The latest on my Pinterest Obsession

I’m still just as ever hooked on Pinterest, although I’ve put my self on restrictions for doing anymore new projects for a little while.  Here is what I’ve been busy doing within the past 6 months.

Here is the Easter wreath I did.  It looked really cute hanging up in the kitchen on the door to the laundry/garage.  The grass was a little messy but makes it looked even better.  I used a cardboard box I cut a circle wreath shape out of and went hot glue gun crazy.  I have never attempted to do a bow before and even with the bow magic (or whatever it is called, to help you achieve the perfect bow) Mine looked like a hot mess.  So that is where there is a egg in the middle of it. :)

 

My friends I discovered IKEA!  That could be a dangerous thing.  I guess it is a good thing they are a bit of a drive for me (Atlanta & Charlotte).  I saw this supper cute idea on Pinterest and knew it would be perfect for my closet.  Not to mention my necklaces were becoming more and more of a tangled mess just in the drawer.  Not only does it look supper cute, it is nice to have found some necklaces I forgot I had!

I made the sidewalk paint for Connor and my God daughter Olivia. It was very easy and fun. Just cornstarch and water. I added food coloring for the colors. I even had fun with this one.

The biggest project I took on was the redo of my bathroom. I saw a grey bathroom and feel in love with the color so off to lowe’s I went to find a similar one. The I saw back cabinets and thought I should do that (that always gets me in trouble) This project seemed to never end with my busy schedule. I had in mind to just frame the mirror and then saw a awesome pin that this the frame and tile around the mirror I loved it and wanted the same. So then off I went to find the tile. I will say I learned a lot from the mirror project. Although they say measure twice cut once was good advice, I kept cutting the board at the wrong angle. I think I had to go back for 2 new ones. That was my first time cutting boards and with cutting glass tile. It looks good but what I learned along the way could look better, but I am pleased with the result and makes the bathroom look really good. I’m bad I had a before picture but can not find it :/

 

This last project was my all time favorite so far.  I had a huge wall in my living area that I had some pictures on it but they were defiantly to small and got lost with all the wall space.  I had been keeping my eyes out for hall tables to fit on the wall but everything I found was way over my budget, which as a single mom is next to nothing.  I know in a pervious post I showed the dresser my mom re-did for me.  That was now the hall table and I needed something big to go over it.  I LOOOOOVE pictures so I knew that was what I wanted.  I really wanted family pictures done because we did not have any as a family with Connor and now Kyle.  I looked for the “perfect” photographer for a couple months.  I was looking for something outside and just simply amazing.  I found Rachael Hughes out of Greenwood, SC and we all traveled there one evening.  I must say it had rained that day and was cloudy that evening and I was worried about the pictures, but they still turned out amazing.  SO back to the wall, I had seen pins for canvas prints and I knew that was what I wanted to do.  I priced the prints on various websites.  I found it was going to be well over $600 for the number of prints and sizes I needed/wanted.  Needless to say that was WAAAAY over my budget.  So off to research the pins I had seen.  Turns out it was so easy!  Canvas, modge podge and the prints!  I ended up painting the sides black because I liked that look better. I am so in love with the wall and it brings a smile to my face every time I see it.

The Rest of March Fun

As for the rest of March I found a new hobby I love, but it’s an expensive one. Shooting!  I went twice that month and unfortunately have not been back, but soon. 

Connor was out of school for spring break and Aunt Michelle decided she wanted to watch him for a few days and ended up taking him to the beach!  Least to say I was jealous because we did not make it down there this summer.  

She could not believe how much stuff I had to pack to bring with him.  I just tell her one day she will understand when she has kids.  We had to make sure he had snacks and plenty of things to keep him occupied while he was there and of course the beach stuff, so he could build big sand castles.

  USC Gamecocks Baseball team came and played at the Fluor Field, of course that was a game we couldn’t miss with them being 2 x national champs.  The game was broadcasted on ESPN and we were very lucky and got good sets.  We were even on TV! 

Courtney Ties the Knot!

In March my cousin got married.  It was a beautiful wedding and we had a lot of fun.  The most important thing before all weddings are the bachelorette parties!  Her sister, Ashley planned a weekend in the mountains of Georgia.  We stayed in a house in the middle of the woods, and had a bus come and pick us up and take us wine tasting at several different vineyards.  It was something I had never done and loved trying all the different kinds of wines. 

For Michelle’s Wedding Coleman, Courtney’s Son, wore a bowtie, so for Courtney’s wedding Con wanted to wear one.  Their wedding took place on Saint Patrick's Day so green was perfect!

another 6 months have passed

Its hard to believe its been 6 more months since I wrote.  I have come to the realization I am just not good at keeping up.  But Once again I am going to try. To sum the past 6 months up :

• My Cousin Courtney got married to a wonderful man Brandon.
• Connor and my mom both celebrated birthdays. (the big 5 & 6-0!)
• Connor flew on his first plane ride.  We went to Ohio to visit my best friend Mary and her family. 
• Connor had his last day of 4k and Summer came.  I think that it was a pretty good summer for us, at the end we went to DISNEY WORLD!
• Now he is a big kindergarten at an amazing new school (new for us) A.J Whittenberg School of Engineering. 

Of course I have had a few pintrest projects here and there but I put my self on a 3 months restriction from them.  For one I was spending too much money and two I wasn't finishing the current ones.

I will slowly update with the past months with pictures and details!

Back to work

This past week was my 2nd full week back to work.  The first week it took some major adjustment but we are back in our routine now.  I was hoping this past week would be my last week of therapy because it has been 6 weeks, but I didn’t get that lucky.  I am still not walking 100 % compleatly normal.  I still have more pain then I think I should.  My range of motion is not where it should be, also my foot seems to be really stiff when I get up and at first until it loosens up I am limping.  I have a check up on Tuesday, Valentines Day :) I will see then what the Dr. has to say.  I am at least hoping I can come out of the brace.  Although today when getting ready for my cousin’s bridal shower I needed to look cute, and the brace didn’t play into the cuteness, so I ditched it.  I ended up wearing a pair of boots almost up to right below my knees.  My foot felt surprisingly well in them. 

In other news in the Foard household, we finished a couple more projects and I have a couple more in mind!  I also took my first beading class and made a necklace.

(From left to right) Initial frame wreath, my 1st necklace I’ve made, Valentines Card with a crayon heart, it reads have a colorful Valentines Day.  The fourth picture is a dressed we  (ok mostly my mom) re-did with baskets in the top.  Of course the idea was from pinterest, and no I didn’t take before pictures, and yes I am kicking my self in the butt.  The last picture is hopefully a soon to be future project.  Its glass tile I plan to put up in the kitchen as a black splash.  I am not sure when I will get around to it seeing I have a mile long list of projects I want to do around the house. 

The biggest project I want to do is closing off part of the living room and making it a 4th bedroom.  I would use it for a craft/guest room.  I am still a little unsure because it is such a big project but I like the idea a lot.  The other project it to paint my master bath cabinets black, along with putting a trim around the big mirror.  I guess with all my ideas I better get started on some of these projects. 

Recovery

Recovery has gone well. A lot better then I thought.  I started driving this week so it seems like I have been running a lot errands.  Today I had therapy this morning then did some errands and tonight I crashed, Today wore me out but I guess I need to be prepared.  Tomorrow is the same and its just preparing me for when I go back to work.  Connor has helped me due my exercises.  I hade to put the towel on the bottom of my foot and pull.  This is him helping :

 

Early this month we attended a funeral service for a hero that recently died in Afghanistan.  We did not know him, but his name was Justin Whitmire and he was 20 years old.  He went to Hillcrest as well as I did.  It was amazing seeing the amount of people that showed up to pay respects. Never in my life have I seen anything like that.  Over 2000 people, it was reported that it was the largest military funeral ever in SC.  That makes me proud that the Golden strip area pulled together like a real community.   I did decide to take Connor with us, and thought it could be a great learning experience.  I did talk to Connor about what a solider did to protect our country and we were going to pay our respects because he was in the army to protect us.  Another lesson for the day was about the American flag and how we shouldn't let it touch the ground.  The whole thing gave me a greater appreciation for our country and soldiers. 

All in a days work

The other day I completed two projects I had been working on / needed to do. Here they are :

I installed a new kitchen faucet ALL BY MY SELF!

I think I am the proudest of that.  I knew we needed a new one and after someone falling through that was going to put it in for me, I was a little irritated and not being able to count on people so I said what the heck I will do it.  I looked a video up on YouTube, so I thought it looked simple enough.  Sure enough it was pretty simple and a day and half later it was done and WORKING!  I am pretty proud of my self.  Next project is switching the thermostat out to a programmable one, I watched a video on that also. :)
