4th of July

This yea for the 4th we decided to cook out and have people over to the house to swim, eat and do fireworks.  As I’ve grown older I like just being at home.  I remember one of the first 4th’s with Connor we went downtown and it was so crazy, it took longer to get home then we were there.  Yea the fireworks were pretty but not worth the people and traffic.  We had a a lot of fun and I love when I can see all of my close friends, seeing we all lead very busy lives.  105_1589 105_1590 105_1595 105_1596 DSC01946 DSC01947 DSC01948 DSC01952 DSC01953 DSC01954 DSC01955

Beach Time!

Every summer growing up our family vacations were going to Ohio to visit our family.  Don’t get me wrong I loved going to see my Grandma but it seemed like every other kid always went to the beach, when we had been maybe 2 times, and those weren't even in the summer time.  Looking back I am grateful for the memories we made.  I have very found memories of going to Cincinnati Reds games, and to the horse races with my dad.  Now that I am a mom I want to make as many memories with Connor.  I have promised my self that every summer we will take a trip to the beach.  I cant afford a whole week so usually it is just a long weekend.  This year I knew we were going to go just not sure when.  My mom forward me an email she received for a hotel that had an amazing deal going on and just happened to be running that weekend, I had the funds and was able to get off work.  It was all perfect.  So I booked it.  Olivia came with us.  I have been friends with her mom since I was in 2nd grade.  I love both of them to death.  Olivia had never been to the beach before so off we go to Myrtle Beach.  Me and two kids, I thought it would be a piece of cake, but it was harder then I thought.  Keeping my eyes on both and I couldn't body board with Olivia because Connor would want to come and of course I couldn't just leave him sitting there.  It was work, but all was worth it.  They loved the beach!

The tans will fade but the memories will last forever. ~Summer 2011~

This summer has seemed to fly by. Yes the official start of summer isn't until late June but here in SC, we start counting summer in May, because of the heat.  So far we have started tball, gone to the beach, went roller skating and spent the 4th of July with  some great friends.  We also found out recently that Connor got accepted into the k4 program through the school district.  I couldn't be happier this will help out in so many ways for us.  Connor starts big boy school Aug 17th.  Yes I am sure I will cry!

Tball has been kind of ruff for us, the first practice/game he wanted to go home half was through and wouldn't get back in the game.  We had to more games and the second one he managed to get through it but I had to bribe him a little bit.. .bad, yes I know.  The third game was last week Michelle ended up driving home to watch him.  He did really good, and you can tell he feels more comfortable with the game.  DSC01785 DSC01789 DSC01791 DSC01818

The Gamecocks USC won yet again this year the college world series.  We couldn't be happier to be a gamecock fan!  When Michelle came home to watch Connor’s tball game she tossed the idea around of taking him back with her to go to the parade they were having the next day to see all the baseball players.  I reminded her that she always did say when he was 4 she would start taking him places alone and overnight.  So I urged her to try it.  She said yes and we asked Connor what he thought, of course he thought it was the greatest thing in the world and immediately when we got home started packing his toys to leave.  They left Thu night and he ended up staying there on Friday also.  He had the greatest time going home with “Shell” and staying at her house.  This was a first for both of them.  I know Connor wore Michelle out.

Connor has been asking to go roller skating and he was in luck he received a birthday invite that was being held at the skating rink!  He was a pro in getting the hang out it, and not giving up.  Momma not so much.  I still cant skate to this day!

Better late then never!

Tomorrow is the 1st day of summer.  Hard to believe when its been in the 90’s for the past month or so.  We have tried to stay cool, mainly staying in the house with the AC on full blast.  We did take advantage and play in the sprinkler.  Connor received a sprinkler ball from our cousin Candy for Easter.  We hooked it up but after a little while running through it he didn’t like the water in his face.  He has always been that way even in the bath tub and pool!  Here are a couple pictures.

DSC01749DSC01751We also celebrated Memorial day, with Michelle and Kyle coming home. We grilled out and watched the balloons one night then went to Freedom week the next night.  We loved seeing all the balloons up close.  Maybe one year we will be able to go up in one.  Connor also got to ride a couple rides!

The summer is just starting so that means we have more fun coming!  Connor started Tball last week (that should get a post all on its own)!  We are thinking of getting a pool, and we are heading to the beach this weekend.  We have a busy busy summer ahead of us.

Crazy busy month of May

Its been a busy month.  I started classes, and both are online.  I am really trying to stay on top of them.  Michelle’s wedding is only 4 months away.  I haven't posted pictures or talked about it because I want it to be a surprise to everyone (which I am sure she would to).  I must say I have truly found my second calling, wedding and party planning.  Most people hate doing it, but I must say I LOVE it.  Michelle told me to plan everything and I don't think she realized how involved or detailed orientated I could be.  Everything is slowly coming together, but time is ticking.

For the month of May we had horrible hail.  It ended up messing my moms car up, and she cant get it in till get fixed until August because of how busy they are!  Luckily it didn't cause any damage to my house or roof.

DSC01695 DSC01696 Every Spring the Center for Developmental Services (CDS) offer a spring fling.  CDS is I believe a non-profit organization that offers all kinds of services to mainly special needs children.  I had the privilege of finding out about them when Connor was a new born.  We were referred to them for hearing test and speech therapy.  We have never been able to make it to their spring fling in the past but this year luckily we were able to.  This year it was held at the baseball field and Meggie and her kids were able to come with us.  They had a lot of activates for the kids, and tons of prizes for them to win.  The kids also got to run the bases on the field and of course Connor loved that!  Connor also got to hold baby Alice for a split second.  That was all he asked about all night when he was going to be able to hold her.  Finally at the end of the night Meggie’s mom placed her in his arm for a split second and he was a happy boy!

DSC01716 DSC01721 DSC01723 DSC01727 Connor had crazy day at school.  I think we did a pretty good job in picking out his outfit!  Striped shirt, plaid shirts, mismatched socks and shoes!

We did other fun things in the month of May but I will continue that in another posting soon.

Easter

So this post is backwards, it should have come before the last one but I couldn’t wait to write about Alice.  So now on to Easter.  This Easter felt kind of weird, everyone seemed gloomy or in some kind of funk.  I don’t know maybe it was just my imagination.  Ashley was missing, my Great and Uncle didn’t make the trip, and some were sick and just not feeling well.  With all that we still had a great time, lots of food like always.  Of course there was an Easter egg hunt, and this year Coleman was able to do it.  Courtney and I hid the eggs in the front yard - I skipped the back yard this year, mainly because my grass (well weeds) need cut.  We threw several of them in the front yard, and I told Connor those were for Coleman.  When we went outside to hide the eggs, of course Connor was trying to cheat and look out the blinds to see where we were hiding them.
