Better late then never!

Tomorrow is the 1st day of summer.  Hard to believe when its been in the 90’s for the past month or so.  We have tried to stay cool, mainly staying in the house with the AC on full blast.  We did take advantage and play in the sprinkler.  Connor received a sprinkler ball from our cousin Candy for Easter.  We hooked it up but after a little while running through it he didn’t like the water in his face.  He has always been that way even in the bath tub and pool!  Here are a couple pictures.

DSC01749DSC01751We also celebrated Memorial day, with Michelle and Kyle coming home. We grilled out and watched the balloons one night then went to Freedom week the next night.  We loved seeing all the balloons up close.  Maybe one year we will be able to go up in one.  Connor also got to ride a couple rides!

The summer is just starting so that means we have more fun coming!  Connor started Tball last week (that should get a post all on its own)!  We are thinking of getting a pool, and we are heading to the beach this weekend.  We have a busy busy summer ahead of us.

Crazy busy month of May

Its been a busy month.  I started classes, and both are online.  I am really trying to stay on top of them.  Michelle’s wedding is only 4 months away.  I haven't posted pictures or talked about it because I want it to be a surprise to everyone (which I am sure she would to).  I must say I have truly found my second calling, wedding and party planning.  Most people hate doing it, but I must say I LOVE it.  Michelle told me to plan everything and I don't think she realized how involved or detailed orientated I could be.  Everything is slowly coming together, but time is ticking.

For the month of May we had horrible hail.  It ended up messing my moms car up, and she cant get it in till get fixed until August because of how busy they are!  Luckily it didn't cause any damage to my house or roof.

DSC01695 DSC01696 Every Spring the Center for Developmental Services (CDS) offer a spring fling.  CDS is I believe a non-profit organization that offers all kinds of services to mainly special needs children.  I had the privilege of finding out about them when Connor was a new born.  We were referred to them for hearing test and speech therapy.  We have never been able to make it to their spring fling in the past but this year luckily we were able to.  This year it was held at the baseball field and Meggie and her kids were able to come with us.  They had a lot of activates for the kids, and tons of prizes for them to win.  The kids also got to run the bases on the field and of course Connor loved that!  Connor also got to hold baby Alice for a split second.  That was all he asked about all night when he was going to be able to hold her.  Finally at the end of the night Meggie’s mom placed her in his arm for a split second and he was a happy boy!

DSC01716 DSC01721 DSC01723 DSC01727 Connor had crazy day at school.  I think we did a pretty good job in picking out his outfit!  Striped shirt, plaid shirts, mismatched socks and shoes!

We did other fun things in the month of May but I will continue that in another posting soon.

Easter

So this post is backwards, it should have come before the last one but I couldn’t wait to write about Alice.  So now on to Easter.  This Easter felt kind of weird, everyone seemed gloomy or in some kind of funk.  I don’t know maybe it was just my imagination.  Ashley was missing, my Great and Uncle didn’t make the trip, and some were sick and just not feeling well.  With all that we still had a great time, lots of food like always.  Of course there was an Easter egg hunt, and this year Coleman was able to do it.  Courtney and I hid the eggs in the front yard - I skipped the back yard this year, mainly because my grass (well weeds) need cut.  We threw several of them in the front yard, and I told Connor those were for Coleman.  When we went outside to hide the eggs, of course Connor was trying to cheat and look out the blinds to see where we were hiding them.

Welcome to the World Alice Claire!

Last Wed. April 27th, of of my very dear friends gave birth to a beautiful baby girl!  I am not only happy for her on the birth of her 3rd child, but thrilled she included me in on the labor and birth of Alice.  I feel very honored she wanted to share that special moment with me and picked me out of everyone she could have had in there.  It really was a miracle.

I think I was more nervous then Meggie was.  Up until the day of I kept asking her if there was anything she did or didn’t want while she was in labor.  Although I had a C-Section I remember I didn’t want anyone in the room talking before they took me back.  I think because I experienced a C-Section when I had Connor that is why the birth of Alice made it that more special.  I got the see the process from beginning to end.   The nights before I was waking up making sure I didn’t miss a phone call.  I was so worried that she would try to call in the middle of the night and I would sleep right through the call.

On Wed. I talked to her that morning and nothing had changed.  At 10 am she called me and told me she was going to go to the hospital to be checked because she was having some bleeding and she was really hoping they would just keep her.  At this point she was miserable.  The drive to the hospital was also a hour and half and she was worried she may not get there in time if the contractions started on there own.  I left work and meet her down there.  They checked her and the Dr. wanted to go ahead and start the medicine to induce her labor, they started that at 1 pm.  She made labor and contractions seem so easy.  She didn’t get an epidural until about 8ish pm when she was about 7cm. By that time the contractions has got worse and she has all she could take.  The epidural worked right away and she felt immediately relief.  Closer to 11 pm it wore off and she was back to being able to feel everything.  I felt so bad, because she was in so much pain and I couldn’t do a thing to help.  I rang for the RN and asked if she could get the Dr., and see if they couldn’t give her some more of the medicine.  The whole time Meggie was saying she felt the baby, She was checked and was at 8cm. The RN left the room to call both of the Doctors.  Before she was able to make both phone calls I rang for her again and told her she needed to come Meggie kept saying she felt the baby.  She comes back in and stated the OB is on her way but didn’t have time to call the anesthesiologist.  She checks her again and said she was already at a 10.  Then it turned crazy in there, I have never seen so many people move so fast.  They set everything up very fast, and now we were just waiting for the doctor.  At this point when the nurse had checked her she told her it was to late for her to get anything more and she was just going to have to push.  The Dr. came in suited up real fast. Meggie pushed 2 times and Baby Alice was born at 11:03 pm weighing 9lbs. 8oz, and 21 inches long.  She was adorable.

Again I feel very honored that I was able to be there, Meggie holds a special place in my heart and now Alice does to.

Blogging just became easier

I must admit that I am not on top of this blog as I would like to be, but I think it just got easier.  I’ve always had a hard time uploading pictured because lets just face it, its a pain in the but.  But wait all thanks to Danielle she told me about Windows Live Writer.  I’ve had it on my computer this whole time, just took me a little while to find it.  This is my first post using it, and already seems much easier and I haven't even tried to upload pictures.   So my new goal is to post more often now that I can use this.  I have many pictures to share so I will be posting more soon.

Birthday's Galore

Everyone seems to have a birthday in the month of Apil. First Michelle's at the end of March then a week latter its my moms then 2 days after that its Connor's. This weekend we celbrated my mom and Connor's Friday night my cousins came into town. We all went and ate seafood. Connor said we had to have a birthday cake for grandma, so once we go home we had cake. His idea Friday morning was that because it was her birthday we stay at home and eat cake.. if only life were that easy.

Sat. we all hung out during the day. I love it when Connor has someone to play with. Our cousin Adi is only 6 weeks younger then him so they make good playmates. Our other cousins are 9 and 10, so we can send them all outside and they can keep an eye on the younger ones. We headed to David's Bridal and Adi tried on her dress flower girl dress (for Michelle's wedding) She looked so cute.

We then headed to the Greenville Drive baseball game. We did this last year and the kids loved it! Of couse we had to buy all the food goodies! It wouldnt be a baseball game with out those!

On Sunday Connor turned 4!!!!!!!!! I cant believe he is 4 already. He has brought so much joy and love into my life, I seriouly dont know where I would be without him. Yes things may not be perfect but they are perfect for us. My mom always said that you didnt know love until you loved a child, and she was so right (yes its in print that I said my mom was right!) I cant even explain the love I have for that kid. With that being said, this year was a pirate theme. As everyone know I love to plan a party! These were some awesome cupcakes a friend made! The banner I made it says party, with skulls on the paper. The two end peices have a pirate ship on one, and a tresure chest on the other. The treat bags were brown paper lunch bags, with the ships on them. The tags had all the kids names with a pirate related cut out peice.

All the little Pirates!

My little Pirate.

We had a great weekend with all of our friends and family. Thanks for everyone who shared it with us.

Happy Birthday Michelle

This post is in honor of my sister for her birthday. We may not get along all the time but she really is the best sister one could ask for. She has been through so much and it has all in turn, turned her into a strong women. She is always there when I need her, and of course loves Connor with all her heart. I just wanted to wish her a 27th Happy Birthday! I love you!
